01 / PLANNING
Measure the route, not only the signal at the dish
Identify the two endpoints, approximate separation, intervening vegetation and building materials. Note any existing conduit and electrical service. These inputs help compare a cable route with a suitable wireless link or another approach.
02 / PLANNING
Design both ends of the connection
Reaching the outside wall does not establish indoor coverage. Place local network equipment around occupied rooms and the actual devices that need it. For guest accommodation, discuss separation between guest devices and property-management systems.
03 / PLANNING
Agree on observable results
Name the rooms, desks or outdoor areas to be checked. Record the equipment locations, ownership and basic fault-isolation steps. New trenching, electrical work or structural changes should have an explicit scope and appropriate local review.
| Part of the project | Information that helps |
|---|---|
| Useful first input | A simple sketch showing buildings and separation |
| Common hidden work | Power at the remote endpoint and an indoor access point |
| Reason to reassess | No clear route, major terrain changes or changing vegetation |
