01 / PLANNING
Write the minimum operating requirement
List the applications that must continue, who uses them and what interruption is acceptable. Identify traffic that can be limited during an outage. This creates a testable scope instead of an undefined promise that the entire business stays online.
02 / PLANNING
Assign responsibility before changing settings
The owner of the firewall or router should approve the handoff and configuration. Some applications depend on network identity, remote access arrangements or provider-specific behavior. The responsible IT professional should assess these requirements before the secondary circuit is connected.
03 / PLANNING
Perform an agreed acceptance exercise
During an approved window, simulate primary-link failure, observe the switch, test named applications and restore the normal connection. Separately review power for the terminal, router, switches and essential devices. Keep a dated record of results and limitations with the equipment handover.
| Part of the project | Information that helps |
|---|---|
| Before installation | Application list, network owner and equipment compatibility |
| During acceptance | Failover, essential workflow checks and restoration |
| After handover | Account ownership, fault contact and review responsibility |
